However, before becoming the Chief of the General Staff, Onik Gasparyan underwent a challenging combat path, participating in the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, where he was severely wounded, losing a leg below the knee, and was prosthetized, continuing to serve the army and his homeland.

Another nuance of knowing Gasparyan: about five years ago, his wife went blind due to a serious illness, and he takes care of her with great dedication, without any external assistance.
