How Russia Views the Situation in Armenia: 'Zhoghovurd'
«Zhoghovurd» newspaper reports: "Despite statements from the Russian side expressing concerns about the situation in Armenia, they simultaneously consider it an internal matter of our country.
«Zhoghovurd» sought comments from Russian parliamentarians to determine their stance on the events occurring in Armenia. For instance, Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the Federation Council's committee on international relations, stated: "I consider the ongoing events to be an exclusively internal affair of sovereign Armenia." He declined to answer other questions.
On the other hand, Leonid Kalashnikov, chairman of the State Duma’s committee on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration, and relations with compatriots, expressed to «Zhoghovurd»: "The recent events in Armenia will not affect its relations with Russia. Zhoghovurd does not wish this, but in any case, no anti-Russian forces will ever come there. There will always be people who can blame Moscow for something, but the majority of Armenia is interested in friendship and cooperation with Russia."
Additionally, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian president, has also commented on the events, stating that they are closely following the developments in the region with concern and attention."
