Snowfall in Some Regions of Armenia, Blizzard Warnings Issued by the Ministry of Emergency Situations
The Ministry of Emergency Situations has reported that there are closed roads across Armenia due to snowfall. The Berd-Jambarak road is currently closed, as are the routes from the ‘Amberd’ high mountain meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province to Amberd Fortress and Lake Khar.
The Vardenyats Pass is passable for freight trucks with the use of snow chains. However, the Lusaghbyur-Saralanj road in Aragatsotn Province is difficult to navigate.
There are patches of black ice on the Vanadzor-Dilijan road, as well as on the roads in Aragatsotn Province (Artik-Alagyaz) and the Syunik Province.
Snow is falling in Tavush Province and in the cities of Tashir and Alaverdi in Lori Province.
Regarding the Lars situation, information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia indicates that the Stepanstminda-Lars road is closed to all types of vehicles due to a blizzard, with approximately 550 freight trucks backed up on the Russian side. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
