Members of Sasna Tsrer Sentenced to 5 to 25 Years in Prison

A verdict in the case of the capture of the Patrol Police Service regiment was announced earlier today at the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided by Judge Mesrop Makyan.

Pavlik Manukyan was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment, taking into account the 2 years he spent in custody, resulting in a final sentence of 7 years and 8 months. Until the verdict enters into legal force, bail will remain in place as a measure of restraint.

Gagik Eghiazaryan received a sentence of 7 years and 5 months, Arayik Kyureghyan received 7 years and 1 month, and Varoujan Avetisyan was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months, with 2 years of pre-trial detention taken into account, leading to a final sentence of 7 years and 4 months. His freedom was maintained under personal guarantee until the verdict becomes legally binding.

Grigori Simbat was sentenced to 25 years in prison, Armen Bilyan to 4 years, Sedrak Nazaryan to 8 years and 2 months, Edward Grigoryan to 6 years and 6 months, and Mkhitar Avetisyan to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment.

It is worth noting that Armen Bilyan’s detention was lifted directly in court, and he will remain free until the court's decision takes effect.

Criminal proceedings against Arayik Khndoyan were also terminated due to his death.

It should be mentioned that there was a plan for amnesty that would have mitigated the penalties for the accused; however, the victims objected, and thus it did not take effect in this case.
