Ara Saghatelyan Prohibited from Any Contact with the Outside World After My Visit, Gevorg Gorgisyan

Yesterday, I visited Ara Saghatelyan, the former head of the National Assembly staff, who is detained in the Armavir penitentiary due to a high-profile fake news case. I checked on his condition, got acquainted with the detention conditions, and listened to his opinion regarding the criminal case. This was reported by Gevorg Gorgisyan, a member of the ‘Enlightened Armenia’ faction of the National Assembly on his Facebook page.

“I have just learned that after my visit, Ara Saghatelyan has been prohibited by the investigator's decision from any form of contact with the outside world, including telephone calls and visits with family members. I hope that the preliminary investigation body has a reasonable explanation for such behavior and will publicly present the justifications for this approach,” wrote Gorgisyan.
