Police Clarifies Incident During Opposition Rally
The police have issued a clarification regarding an incident that occurred during an opposition-organized rally. The following statement was released:
“Information has circulated in the mass media claiming that a participant at the opposition's rally had his leg broken due to the actions of the police. We would like to inform you that the said citizen was brought to the police for committing an act as described in Article 182 of the Administrative Offenses Code of Armenia. His condition worsened while at the police station, and an ambulance crew transported him to a hospital, where he was diagnosed with a fractured left tibia. Following the incident, a service investigation has been initiated by the order of the Chief of Police.”
