Today the Issue of Gagik Jhangiryan's Powers Suspension Will Be Discussed
The Supreme Judicial Council will discuss today the issue of suspending the powers of Gagik Jhangiryan, a member of the Council, as reported to Lurer by Arman Khachatryan, the head of the Council's press and public relations service.
Judge Karine Petrosyan of the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court has addressed this demand to the Council's president, Ruben Vardazaryan. The request is based on the fact that Gagik Jhangiryan, a jurist-scientist member of the Council, has reached the age of 65, which, according to Karine Petrosyan, is prohibited by the Judicial Code.
Jhangiryan had previously commented on the matter, clarifying that this legal restriction applies only to jurist members, and that there are no restrictions for scientific members in the law.
If a decision is made as a result of the judge's request, which will be open for publication, the Supreme Judicial Council will provide additional information, it has been clarified by the Council.
