Major Car Accident in Yerevan: Traffic Light and Thick Tree Knocked Down, Injuries Reported

A major and reckless car accident occurred in Yerevan. Yesterday at around 22:00, 34-year-old V. Harutyunyan, a resident of Yerevan, lost control of his BMW vehicle with license plate 51 QX 111 at the intersection of Mazmanyan-Shiraz and Chaushi streets under unclear circumstances. He veered off the roadway, collided with a traffic light, knocking it down, and continuing forward crashed into a tree, uprooting it and ending up on a green lawn.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, a passenger, 21-year-old A. Milyan, sustained injuries and was transported to the 'Armenia' medical center.

The Yerevan Emergency Situations Ministry's rescue service, specifically the 7th fire-rescue unit, arrived promptly at the scene with one operational unit. Rescuers deactivated the vehicle and cordoned off the area. The 'Yereghluy' LLC service personnel also arrived at the scene shortly after. Yerevan's traffic police officers were also dispatched to the location.

According to Arsen Karapetyan, the responsible duty officer at the Yerevan Traffic Police operational management center, information about the accident was passed on to the traffic police's department for investigating traffic incidents and administrative procedures, from where a team led by senior investigator Artavazd Harutyunyan was dispatched to prepare relevant materials regarding the incident.

As per G. Shamshyan's reports, the arriving police officers were informed by the driver that he works as the chief accountant at 'Effect Group' LLC.
