Language Law Cannot Be Changed Without Public Consensus, Says Artsakh MP
The author of the draft law on amendments to the Republic of Artsakh's "Law on Language" has suggested organizing discussions with broad segments of the public. This was written on the Facebook page of Gegham Stepanyan, a member of the Democratic faction of the Artsakh National Assembly.
“Taking into account the ambiguous public reaction to the proposed amendments to the draft law on the changes to the 'Law on Language,' I urged the authors of the draft to hold discussions with broad segments of society, including intellectuals, academic and teaching collectives, and students, prior to the discussions of the draft at the National Assembly's plenary session. The language law cannot be amended without a real and universal understanding and consensus among the public, and it cannot ignore the genuine desires of the community,” he wrote.
