Gohar Meloyan Also Detained, Released from NSS

Expert on Azerbaijan, Anzhela Elibegova, and constitutional lawyer Gohar Meloyan were released from the National Security Service (NSS). After leaving the NSS building, Elibegova told reporters that she has no idea why she ended up at the NSS, and that her phone and work laptop were confiscated, containing critical work information, including details on Azerbaijan's military crimes that were to be passed to the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan.

Constitutional law expert Gohar Meloyan added that she reached her office to find an investigation already underway, and representatives of the law enforcement agencies refused to show her the search warrant. Meloyan noted that searches should be conducted solely based on a court decision, whereas the order was issued by an investigator.

She stated that she is unaware of the case that the search was related to, but there are several confiscated items. The constitutional lawyer pointed out that various rights violations occurred, and several decisions will be appealed. Meloyan emphasized that they do not have clear information about their status but were asked to remain silent as suspects and have been released for now.
