Who is Eligible for Free Vaccination Against Coronavirus
"Citizens included in the risk group can be vaccinated against coronavirus as part of the state order. This list has already been confirmed," said the Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, during a conversation with journalists today in the government.
The minister detailed that individuals over 65, healthcare workers, citizens with chronic diseases, and beneficiaries in closed institutions will receive the coronavirus vaccine under the state order. Anahit Avanesyan also clarified that children are not included in the mandatory vaccination program at this time.
"The vaccinations will not be mandatory. All information regarding the side effects of the vaccines will be provided. And, of course, the vaccines imported to Armenia will be assessed by a professional group to evaluate their quality, effectiveness, and all side effects. I want to note that a small number of vaccinations have already begun," she said.
The minister informed that mass vaccinations will commence starting March. She also mentioned that the professional commission in Armenia has approved the "AstraZeneca" and "Sputnik V" vaccines.
When asked about how much money the state would allocate for the purchase of vaccines, Anahit Avanesyan refrained from answering, stating that she cannot provide specific information at this stage. It is also unclear how much the vaccine will cost for citizens who are unable to receive it under the state order.
