We have apparently given up the security zone of Syunik, and today it turns out that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are positioned just a few kilometers from our airport, with villages located only meters away. This means that when Nikol Pashinyan claims that these things have occurred through verbal agreements, we see that there is a clear memorandum, a clear point, and I do not know whether it will be possible to annul this in the future or not.

This was stated today by Anna Grigoryan, a former MP from the My Step faction, during a press conference with journalists at the National Assembly while discussing the security of Syunik and the danger of losing new territories.

Grigoryan noted that if it is not possible to annul those points, then it will not be possible to maintain the security of Syunik. “There is also a point about the joint use of the roads of Davi Bek, Goris, and Kapan,” she added.

According to her, it is evident every day that there is a third memorandum being implemented, and there is no reason to doubt it. “Of course, it exists. What new concessions do we need to make? There is nothing left to concede in Syunik, and people are afraid that GPS will lead them to demarcate the borders,” she said, adding that the residents of Syunik insist that their daily safety must be ensured since not everywhere are Armenian or Russian border guards stationed.

“Therefore, there is a need for people to sleep peacefully at home or for children to play in the yard. They should also have the appropriate weapons in their hands. Of course, the procedures will be clarified, and it will be clear who can acquire weapons and under what conditions,” she said, adding that several more villages in Syunik will soon come under the control of border guards. “This is the minimum we can do. At this moment, I am also developing an initiative with other MPs to provide additional privileges to border villages. The number of border guards still needs to be increased,” she concluded.
