Limits Set for Amateur Fishing Quotas and Dates

The Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan has signed a decree establishing the allowable quotas and dates for amateur fishing in the water areas of the Republic of Armenia for social purposes in 2021.

Based on Article 5, Part 2, and Article 8, Part 1, Item 8 of the Law on Hunting and Management of Hunting Economy of the Republic of Armenia, the following species and quotas for amateur fishing for social purposes have been established:

  • Redfin perch - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 1 kg per catch/day; spawning period: October-November; allowable size: 15 cm and above.
  • Rainbow trout - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, without limitation; spawning period: January-March.
  • Caucasian carp - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 3 kg per catch/day; spawning period: April-June; allowable size: 20 cm and above.
  • White amur - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 5 kg per catch/day; spawning period: April-August; allowable size: 70 cm and above.
  • Black amur - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 5 kg per catch/day; spawning period: April-August; allowable size: 70 cm and above.
  • Kur fish - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 5 kg per catch/day; spawning period: May-June; allowable size: 25 cm and above.
  • Kur sturgeon - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 4 kg per catch/day; spawning period: May-July; allowable size: 20 cm and above.
  • Bream - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 5 kg per catch/day; spawning period: May-June; allowable size: 30 cm and above.
  • Eastern Bream - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 3 kg per catch/day; spawning period: May-June; allowable size: 8 cm and above.
  • Carp - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 5 kg per catch/day; spawning period: May-June; allowable size: 40 cm and above.
  • White thick-shelled - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 5 kg per catch/day; spawning period: May-June; allowable size: 50 cm and above.
  • Spotted thick-shelled - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 5 kg per catch/day; spawning period: May-June; allowable size: 50 cm and above.
  • Silver carp - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 10 kg per catch/day; spawning period: April-June; allowable size: 10 cm and above.
  • Bram - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 2 kg per catch/day; spawning period: July-August; allowable size: 20 cm and above.
  • Loche - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 8 kg per catch/day; spawning period: May-June; allowable size: 60 cm and above.
  • Crawfish - from February 1 to December 30, 2021, no more than 1 kg per catch/day; spawning period: April-August; allowable size: 9 cm and above.

We urge our citizens engaged in fishing with the appropriate licenses to comply with all safety regulations during the fishing season, to fish exclusively within the quotas specified in the licenses to avoid overfishing, and most importantly, to show maximum care for nature.

Compliance with the allowable quotas during the fishing season will be monitored daily by the Ministry of Environment and other responsible state bodies.
