Criminal Group Engaged in Illegal Drug Trafficking Revealed
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has uncovered a chain involved in the illegal circulation of drugs following an ongoing criminal investigation in the Central and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan.
As a result of the investigations, the identities of five members of the criminal group were established, with four being charged, and one other declared a suspect and placed on wanted status.
Specifically, during the investigation of a criminal case initiated after the discovery of about 4.13 grams of methamphetamine with a 28-year-old resident of Yerevan, data was obtained indicating that he acquired the substance from another 28-year-old individual without a permanent residence, who, according to investigation, had purchased the drug from a 36-year-old resident of Yerevan.
During a personal search, the 36-year-old was found in possession of one pill of Lyrica and about 0.59 grams of methamphetamine. It was revealed that this individual acquired the substance from a 44-year-old resident of Agarak, who, in turn, had obtained it from a Persian national residing in Iran.
Furthermore, it was discovered that the resident of Agarak had involved his 14-year-old son in the illegal drug trade. A personal search of the teenager revealed around 200 grams of methamphetamine and 0.5 grams of marijuana. Additionally, a search of their apartment uncovered 50 grams of methamphetamine.
Moreover, factual data were obtained indicating that the aforementioned Persian national had been involved in the sale of a particularly large quantity of methamphetamine near the Armenian-Iranian border. As a result of measures taken, 465 grams of methamphetamine were seized in that area.
With sufficient evidence collected, the 28-year-old resident of Yerevan has been charged under Part 3 of Article 268 of the Armenian Criminal Code, the 36-year-old under Part 2 of Article 266, the resident of Agarak under Part 2 of Article 266, and his 14-year-old son under Part 2 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code. Meanwhile, another 28-year-old individual has been involved as a suspect under Part 2 of Article 266, and a wanted notice has been issued against him.
The investigation is ongoing, with necessary measures being taken to identify other individuals involved in the criminal chain, as well as to clarify other circumstances significant to the investigation.
Notice: The suspect in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia through a legally binding court decision.
