Facebook Aided US Authorities in Identifying Capitol Riot Participants

Facebook has assisted US law enforcement in identifying participants involved in the Capitol riot. This was reported by Monica Bickert, head of the company’s global policy management, as referenced by Bloomberg.

Bickert stated that Facebook responded to inquiries from US authorities regarding information provision, and company employees analyzed photographs of the riot participants. At the same time, she noted that the company did not use facial recognition technology for this purpose.

According to Bickert, the company also removed posts about organizing new riots.

On January 6, supporters of Trump, refusing to accept the results of the presidential election held on November 3, in which Democrat Joe Biden was declared the winner, stormed the US Capitol in an attempt to prevent the Senate from finalizing the results. The riots resulted in the deaths of five individuals.
