A Group of Countries Plans to Form a Regional Alliance Against Turkey
Officials from several Gulf countries are meeting today in Athens as Greece seeks to expand alliances to counter its rival Turkey in the region. According to Armenpress, this was reported by the Associated Press.
Representatives from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the UAE are holding discussions in Athens with the foreign ministers of Greece, Cyprus, and Egypt, who already support regional communications. They are joined via video link by French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.
The participating countries support Greece in its dispute with Turkey over the Eastern Mediterranean. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that the seven participating countries plan to hold regular communications and meetings.
