Why Is the Minister of High-Tech Industry Interested in the Polytechnic Rector Elections?
Recently, a summary and reporting press conference was held by the Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Arshakyan, where he discussed the successes of the sector and future projects in detail. However, many were surprised by the fact that Arshakyan, being the Minister of High-Tech Industry, suddenly began to speak with great enthusiasm about the elections for the rector position of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia.
The National Polytechnic University of Armenia operates under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, so the interest of the High-Tech Industry Minister in this topic seemed puzzling at first glance.
However, it turns out there are certain reasons for this. According to information from the newspaper "Fact," at one point, the former Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Araik Harutyunyan, internally "assigned" this university to Hakob Arshakyan, and the newly appointed minister, as the saying goes, is unable to overturn this internal “decision.” In fact, during his press conference, Hakob Arshakyan essentially confirmed his interest and stake in this university.
What the content and objectives of this interest are, and whether Hakob Arshakyan has his preferred candidate for the National Polytechnic University remain unclear at this moment. However, considering the unnatural reaction of a head of an unrelated agency towards the rector's election of an institution under another ministry’s jurisdiction, we will closely monitor the process of electing the rector of the polytechnic.
This is reported by the newspaper "Fact."
