Zaruhi Postanjyan's Statements on Nikol Pashinyan's Espionage and Land Sale Under Investigation
Materials are being prepared at the Special Investigative Service (SIS) based on the statements made by Zaruhi Postanjyan regarding espionage and land sales by Nikol Pashinyan, with Postanjyan being summoned for clarification.
The president of the 'Yerkir Tsirani' party and lawyer Zaruhi Postanjyan stated in a conversation with 'Factinfo' that she went to the SIS to receive answers to her concerning questions. Specifically, she inquired whether a criminal case had been initiated regarding the actions of Nikol Pashinyan and his partner, and whether they hold any status in this context. The investigator responded that they do not possess such information.
Postanjyan also asked whether the investigator had time to follow her press conferences and was aware of her statements. The investigator replied that he follows the developments but not on his initiative; rather, he received a report from the head of the SIS regarding the press conference, based on which she was summoned for clarification.
During her meeting at the SIS, Zaruhi Postanjyan did not provide an explanation but instead issued a statement, noting that since the head of the agency is appointed by Nikol Pashinyan and can be dismissed by him, the body cannot conduct an objective investigation. Therefore, she refused to provide further clarification.
After Postanjyan’s statement, the investigator mentioned that he is impartial and urged her again to provide explanations, but Postanjyan once more declined.
“If there were at least one impartial investigator in Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan and his partner would have long been charged. If these actions have not been taken against them, then I do not trust the process. Decisions regarding dismissals could be based on my clarifications, which would consequently hinder the process of bringing charges and involving me as a defendant in the future. Moreover, the evidence I provide could also be destroyed,” stated Postanjyan.
Postanjyan indicated that a significant amount of time has passed, but neither Pashinyan nor Anna Hakobyan has been charged. She questioned why the previously submitted reports of crimes have not been acted upon, while materials are being prepared based on the report and she is invited for clarification.
Postanjyan did not rule out that a decision might be made to dismiss the criminal case based on the prepared materials, instead of initiating a case against her for false testimony, considering who is involved in this situation.
