Mother of Hero Hunan Manvelyan Has Doubts: 'Since You Haven't Seen Your Child's Body, It's Hard to Believe He Has Died'
The hero loved to engage in sports during his free time. He was a wrestler. In the world of sports, Hunan had received numerous medals and certificates for honorable positions. He also sang frequently. “He was a very lively child, calm, and approachable. My son was endowed with the best character traits,” Tigranuhi Manvelyan told Lurer.com in an interview.
The day came for Hunan to serve his country and protect it. He was drafted into the army on August 11, 2018. “He was happy about being drafted, but felt something inside. He said, 'Mom, when I go to the army, there will probably be war,’” the grieving mother noted.
During the war, unfortunately, Tigranuhi was not able to stay in constant contact with her fighting son. She managed to speak with Hunan only once, on the first day of the war. “His mood was very good in the morning, he said, 'Mom, how are you? Before I even asked, you tell me, my son, you talk.' The call got interrupted, and that was our last conversation,” the heroic mother said with heartache.
The Manvelyan family was only informed that Hunan had died while saving his commander’s life. They do not even know when this tragic event occurred involving their son. “On October 27, my son's name was finally recorded in the list of the deceased. About a week ago, a body was found that matches Hunan's DNA, but I have doubts that it is my Hunan. I have insisted they conduct DNA testing again,” said Hunan's mother.
She has doubts that her son is alive, but in captivity. That thought gives her solace to move forward. “There are videos; it’s true I saw him from behind, but it resembled Hunan. I think he is in captivity. And since I haven’t seen Hunan, it’s a bit hard to believe that it is Hunan’s body. His brother, who went to identify the body, said it was unrecognizable,” Tigranuhi Manvelyan sadly stated.
