Death Toll from Glacier Collapse in India Reaches 34

In Uttarakhand, India, the death toll from a recent glacier collapse has reached 34. This information was reported by The Indian Express, citing local authorities. Earlier, the reported number of fatalities stood at 14.

It is noted that 170 individuals are still considered missing. Rescue operations are ongoing for 34 workers who are believed to be trapped in a tunnel that is currently under construction.

On February 7, a chunk of ice fell from the Nanda Devi mountain, causing a flood that filled two rivers in the Himalayan region. The “Rishiganga” hydroelectric power station was completely destroyed, swept away along with its workers. The flood has devastated bridges and homes, prompting the evacuation of residents from several villages.
