Entry of Armenian Citizens to Artsakh is Free

Foreign citizens wishing to visit the Republic of Artsakh must first apply to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh for permission to enter. This is stated in a declaration by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh. According to the head of the consular department of the Artsakh representation in Armenia, the entry procedure for Artsakh has not changed significantly.

Due to the post-war situation, changes have been made for security reasons. The recent news circulating on social media, claiming that it is unsafe to enter Artsakh, has been denied by the acting head of the consular department of the representation.

Lusine Stepanyan (acting head of the consular department of the Permanent Representation of Artsakh in Armenia) stated, "Addressing the recent claims that entering Artsakh is unsafe, or that entry to Artsakh is determined by someone other than the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this is misinformation. I would ask that one follows the official information."

Some changes have been made in the procedure for foreign citizens entering the territory of Artsakh. As before, a visa regime is in place for foreign citizens, but now visas are issued not immediately, but within 3-4 days, according to the head of the consular department. For Russian citizens, although there is no visa regime, the previous practice of a document-based entry remains, requiring only a registration form for entering Artsakh.

Lusine Stepanyan added, "The only change in this context is that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh simply informs the peacekeepers about citizens wishing to visit, in order to ensure safety." For citizens of Armenia, entry is completely free.
