New Rally on February 20: Homeland Salvation Movement
The coordinator of the "Homeland Salvation Movement" and representative of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, has made a post on his Facebook page outlining three main reasons why Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has abandoned the idea of holding snap elections:
“First, the person clinging to the prime minister’s chair has realized that he has no chance of being re-elected through elections – that is simply impossible. Second, this same person has understood that going down this road will lead to serious issues with his own team, as most of the ‘lucky arrivals’ in the parliament have felt the imminent danger of losing their mandate without return. Third, they think that the Movement has cooled down, and with a little diversion of the public through fake agendas, what they have done will be forgotten, passed over, and gone. Therefore, they have decided to hold onto their power by force, trying to strengthen it through various methods. But here they are gravely mistaken, as populist-traitors can deceive their own people once, the second time will not work,” Saghatelyan wrote, adding that now, the citizens who were considering getting rid of this malignant power through elections will take to the streets.
“At that time, the ‘proud fools’ will feel the public demand on their own skin. The upcoming rally is scheduled for February 20 at 15:00 in Liberty Square. P.S. Incidentally, none of the opposition parties, including parliamentary forces, have been against snap elections, quite the opposite – they have presented the demand and necessity for it, while also outlining a very clear roadmap to achieve it (resignation, formation of a transitional government, holding of snap elections),” Saghatelyan stated.
