22-Year-Old Man Killed During Altercation at Restaurant

The Investigation Committee of Armenia is conducting an inquiry to clarify the circumstances surrounding the murder of a 22-year-old man at a restaurant. This was reported by the Investigation Committee of Armenia.

On February 6, 2021, at 11:15 PM, a report was received from a citizen indicating that patrons at the "Apricot Orchard" restaurant in the Arinj community of Kotayk Province were stabbing each other with knives. Subsequently, at 11:55 PM, the "Heratsi" hospital complex reported that a resident of Hrazdan city, a young man born in 1998, was admitted with multiple stab wounds and pronounced dead upon arrival.

An investigative-operative group immediately proceeded to the scene. Preliminary data indicates that around 10:30 PM on February 6, 2021, an individual, suspected of committing the crime, got into a dispute with the 22-year-old resident of Hrazdan city. During this altercation, with the intent to unlawfully deprive the victim of life, the suspect struck the victim's vital organs with a sharp cutting and stabbing instrument, resulting in fatal injuries.

In relation to the incident, the Kotayk Province Investigation Department of the Investigation Committee of Armenia has initiated a criminal case under Article 104 (Murder) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The preliminary investigation has been entrusted to investigators from the Kotayk Province Investigation Department and the Abovyan Investigation Division.

Throughout the investigation, extensive investigative and other procedural actions have been undertaken, including an inspection of the crime scene where blood-like traces were discovered, samples were collected, eyewitnesses were interrogated, and footage from surveillance cameras at the scene was examined. Expert examinations have been appointed to establish circumstances that are of essential significance to the criminal case.

As a result of the measures taken, the identity of the alleged perpetrator has been established; he is a resident of Yerevan and a citizen of the Russian Federation, born in 1977. Steps are being taken to locate and present him to the prosecutorial authority. Instructions have been issued to the relevant division of the Armenian police. The investigation is ongoing, with measures being implemented to ensure a comprehensive, objective, and thorough examination of all circumstances surrounding the case.
