‘Bald-faced lie’: What happened in Gyumri’s ‘Polygon’ neighborhood involving MP Karen Sarukhanyan
A Telegram channel reported that a confrontation occurred yesterday afternoon in Gyumri’s ‘Polygon’ neighborhood between local men and MP Karen Sarukhanyan from the ‘My Step’ alliance.
According to the channel, after exiting a construction materials store, Sarukhanyan was insulted by local men. When the MP attempted to respond, the men began to insult Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The Telegram channel further reported that Sarukhanyan got into his vehicle and ‘fled’, while those he had a verbal altercation with warned him not to appear in their neighborhood again.
In response, Karen Sarukhanyan provided clarification on his Facebook page, labeling the claims as a ‘bald-faced lie’ and warned against calling him names, threatening to meet them in court.
The MP confirmed that he was indeed at one of the construction materials stores in the ‘Polygon’ neighborhood yesterday. Sarukhanyan specifically wrote: ‘It has been written that some incident occurred between me and the people of Gyumri yesterday, which is a bald-faced lie and does not correspond to reality. Yes, yesterday I was at a construction materials store in the ‘Polygon’ neighborhood, where I bump into a familiar group of people, whom I greeted warmly and continued our friendly conversation. Furthermore, my acquaintances demanded that our political team take a tough stance against former looters and put an end to the velvet revolution, which I promised them.’ This is the entire incident. I advise certain media outlets not to try to spread false news regarding my name and not to fish in troubled waters; otherwise, we will meet in court. Finally, let me add that a Gyumri resident is wise and knows whom they are speaking with, and that Gyumri residents, regardless of everything, stand beside our political team today.
