Turkey's President Appoints Azerbaijani Member to Security and Foreign Policy Council

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appointed Azerbaijani professor Aygun Attar to the Presidential Security and Foreign Policy Council, according to Turkish newspaper Hurriyet.

Attar was born in 1962 in the Kashatagh region (Kubatly), graduated from Baku State University in 1986, and defended his doctoral thesis in history in Moscow in 1993. In the mid-1990s, Attar moved to Turkey and served as the rector of Giresun University from 2012 to 2016.
