All The Money Stolen from ‘Akba Bank’ Has Been Found; The Robber is a 33-Year-Old Resident of Yerevan
A 33-year-old resident of Yerevan, Vahagn Ghazaryan, has been arrested as a suspect in the armed robbery of 'Akba Bank' at the intersection of Sundukyan and Vagharshyan Streets in the Arabkir administrative district. He was apprehended by the bank's manager and a security officer after they subdued him. The stolen cash comprising Armenian drams, US dollars, euros, and Russian rubles has also been recovered.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, an extraordinary incident took place in Yerevan yesterday, on February 5. A man armed with a firearm entered 'Akba Credit Agricole Bank' located at 64 Sundukyan Street in the Arabkir district, held a weapon to the female employee, and stole approximately 2.5 million Armenian drams, about 1,700 US dollars, around 4,200 euros, and approximately 6,000 Russian rubles before fleeing the scene.
The manager of the Arabkir branch of 'Akba Bank,' Hayk Petrosyan, and the bank’s security officer, Karen Manukyan, endangered their own lives to chase and subdue him outside the bank. Following the incident, he was brought to the Arabkir Police Department.
