Four-Story Hotel Collapses Due to Explosion
A four-story inactive hotel has been destroyed by an explosion in the northern Greek city of Kastoria. This information has been reported by the country's fire department, as conveyed by Armenpress.
The hotel was located on the fourth kilometer of the Kastoria-Kozani highway. The US news agency in Athens reported that the explosion occurred at 1:30 AM local time, completely destroying the building. Glass fragments, debris, and metal structures were scattered up to 80 meters away. Fortunately, no one was injured as the hotel has not been operational since 2020, and there were no occupants in the building at the time.
The 80-room “Tsamis” hotel is considered a symbolic tourist complex in Kastoria. It is situated on the shores of the lake, offering a beautiful view of the city,” the agency reports.
According to information posted on the hotel’s website, it had 75 rooms and was fully renovated in 2010. The cause of the explosion is being investigated by the fire department and the police.
