Serzh Sargsyan Ready: A Pivotal Meeting Awaits, Others Disagree with His Opinion - 'Zhoghovurd'

The meeting of opposition political leaders planned for last week, according to "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, did not take place. The reason is that Republican Party leader Serzh Sargsyan was infected with coronavirus and was self-isolating.

It was revealed yesterday that his test has now come back negative. According to our sources, this "historic" meeting is set to take place today or tomorrow. Well-informed sources from the newspaper report that the meeting could be pivotal, as concrete decisions need to be made regarding the fate of the "Homeland Salvation Movement," and, more importantly, whether the opposition should participate in the potential snap elections.

It should be noted that Serzh Sargsyan is inclined to the option of boycotting the elections, while the other forces do not share his opinion. The anti-government forces need to discuss how they will participate in the elections—either separately or through consensus, excluding one—Nikol Pashinyan.

Additionally, issues related to the rally called by the opposition on February 18 will also be discussed, as it is still not final where it will take place and in what format.

“Zhoghovurd” newspaper sought clarification from Khachik Galstyan, a member of the board of the 'Homeland' party, regarding whether the date of the meeting of opposition leaders has been determined. Galstyan stated that such a meeting will take place, but it is still unclear when. It is noteworthy that the coalition of 17 parties that submitted an application to save the homeland has long been fragmented, making it hard to imagine how they could save our country with such resources and mindset.
