Eight Major Exercises to be Held in the CSTO

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) plans to conduct up to eight large-scale military exercises in 2021, most of which will take place in the territory of Tajikistan. Stanislav Zas, the CSTO Secretary General, announced this in an interview with TASS.

"I can only speak about large exercises. There are eight of them," Zas stated.

According to the Secretary General, most of the exercises will be hosted in Tajikistan, as the country holds the presidency of the CSTO in 2021. In particular, significant exercises are planned involving collective rapid reaction forces, reconnaissance forces, and resources.

Zas also mentioned that most of the exercises are expected to occur in the second half of the year, adding that the CSTO is taking into account the risks and situations that arise for the participants due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
