One of the Leaders of the Islamic State Eliminated in Iraq

In Iraq, an airstrike by the U.S.-led international coalition has eliminated one of the leaders of the Islamic State, reports The New York Times.

According to the publication, Jabbar Salman Ali Farhan al-Isawi, also known as Abu Yaser, was killed on January 27 in the vicinity of Kirkuk. Along with him, nine more militants of the terrorist group were also destroyed. The operation was supported by Iraq's security forces.

The leader had been overseeing the activities of ISIS militants in Iraq and had attempted to restore the group’s influence in the country. His elimination is seen as a response to the terrorist attack that occurred in Baghdad on January 21, which resulted in the deaths of 32 people and left over 100 injured.
