Black Ice Reported in Aragats, Kajaran, Gavar Regions, and Tigranashen Turnouts

The RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure’s Road Department informs that as of 17:30 today, snow is falling in the Sisian and Meghri regions.

The Sisian-Goris highway section from the Harjisi junction to the Tatev junction is closed due to heavy snowfall and poor visibility.

Black ice is reported in the Aragats, Kajaran, and Gavar regions, as well as in the Tigranashen turnouts and the Saravan mountain pass.

Dense fog has settled on the Aparan roads, with visibility down to 20-30 meters, while the Kotayk region (specifically the area called Chayni) also experiences fog with visibility of 100-150 meters. Blizzards are reported in the Vardenis region.

The Vardenyats mountain pass is closed to all types of vehicles. The Meghri mountain pass is passable for vehicles with trailers only with the use of snow chains.

Other inter-state and republican roads remain open. Road construction workers are carrying out cleaning and treatment works with salt and sand on the roads.

To avoid accidents, incidents, and traffic jams, drivers are advised to use winter tires exclusively.
