Zarif Leaves Yerevan for Turkey

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has arrived in Istanbul, Turkey, as part of a regional tour. This was reported by Pars Today.

In a brief interview with reporters at the airport, Zarif stated, “Our relations with Turkey are very important. Consultation and agreement with Turkey on bilateral, multilateral, and regional issues is vital.”

Emphasizing the need to establish peace through cooperation among countries in the Caucasus region, Zarif added, “During my visits to Azerbaijan, Russia, Armenia, and Georgia, I discussed this issue in detail with senior officials of these countries. This matter will also be addressed in our meeting with our brothers in Turkey. We will specifically discuss creating a basis for cooperation in the transit and transport sectors following the recent events in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.”

Referring to the six-party cooperation mechanism, Zarif noted, “This issue was raised earlier by Erdogan. I have discussed this matter with officials from the countries in the region, and I will present the results during my meeting with Turkish officials.”

During his regional visit, the Iranian Foreign Minister arrived in Baku on Monday, followed by Moscow, Yerevan, and Tbilisi.
