Robbery in Ararat Region: Elderly Woman Bound and Robbed of Money and Gold Jewelry
On January 26, a masked robbery occurred in the Ararat region. At approximately 04:00 on January 27, information was received by the Ararat police department regarding a masked robbery that took place against 85-year-old Rosa D. in the village of Shahumyan.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, it was determined that an unknown individual entered Rosa D.'s home around 23:00 on January 26, bound her hands and feet with duct tape, demanded money and gold jewelry, and then ransacked the house, stealing money and jewelry from the bedroom.
While investigators were working at the crime scene, officers from the Ararat regional police department acted swiftly, launching immediate operational and investigative measures. They identified the perpetrator of the robbery and arrested him, bringing him to the Ararat police department. According to G. Shamshyan, the suspect is identified as 28-year-old Artyom T., a resident of the same village. He was later presented at the Ararat regional investigative department, where he was arrested as a suspect within the framework of the opened criminal case.
By the investigator's decision, several examinations have been appointed, including forensic medical ones, and it is being clarified whether the suspect had accomplices and how much money and gold was stolen from the elderly woman's home.
