Newly Appointed Police Chief of Artsakh is Brother of Jalal Harutyunyan

On January 27, by the decree of the President of Artsakh, Colonel Artem Harutyunyan has been appointed as the head of the Police operating under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Artsakh. Notably, he is the brother of Jalal Harutyunyan, the former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army.

Biography of Artem Anatolievich Harutyunyan:

Born on July 4, 1978, in the village of Patara, Askeran District. In 2008, he graduated from the Grigor Narekatsi University with a degree in Law.

From 1995 to 1998, he served in the Defense Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. On November 20, 1999, he began service at the investigative isolation facility of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. He transitioned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs on December 24, 1999, serving as the supervisor of the duty unit of the Ministry's Headquarters, and later as the assistant-operational duty officer of the duty unit of the Ministry's Headquarters.

In 2009, he was appointed the head of the duty unit of the Police Department of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. From 2017 until June 11, 2020, he served as the deputy head of staff of the Artsakh police.
