Negotiations on the Table Involve a 5000-Page Document. Turkey May Face Court, Expert Says

Expert Karen Ghazaryan wrote on his Facebook page: “After a four-year hiatus, Turkey and Greece have resumed negotiations regarding disputed territorial claims in the Aegean Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean. I consider this unprecedented because the Greek side has stated that if an agreement is not reached, they will have no choice but to resort to the International Court of Justice in The Hague. This is perhaps the first instance where one party involved in negotiations with Turkey is not threatening to impose economic or other sanctions, but rather is considering appeals to international courts.

It is important to note that a 5000-page document is on the negotiation table, which addresses not only the delimitation of maritime waters but also airspace and the status of disputed islands.”
