Construction of Fizuli-Shushi Highway Has Begun, Airport to Be Built: Aliyev on Their Priorities

In the context of unblocking transport communications in the region, railway projects are a priority for Azerbaijan. As reported by minval.az, this was stated by the President of the country, Ilham Aliyev, who said, "Currently, major projects in the field of transport and communication are being discussed in the region. Here, of course, the priority projects are the Horadiz-Zangilan railway, followed by the Zangilan-Nakhchivan and Nakhchivan-Turkey railway projects, as well as other projects. The situation created after the war in Nagorno-Karabakh opens new opportunities for the countries of the region, and Azerbaijan is ready for cooperation in the transport sector and is contributing to this work. I have already instructed to start designing the Horadiz-Aghbend railway. Other projects have also already begun. The construction of the Fizuli airport has started. As I said, the second airport will be built in the Karvachar or Lachin regions. The construction of the Fizuli-Shushi highway has begun," said Aliyev while accepting the newly appointed Minister of Transport, Communication and High Technologies Rashad Nabiyev via video conference.
