The Council of Europe Engages with Armenia and Azerbaijan to Provide Support in Post-Conflict Period
The Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Maria Peichinovich Burich, spoke at a session dedicated to the protection of human rights, addressing the ceasefire regime established between Armenia and Azerbaijan in November.
"Regarding the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Secretary General welcomed the ceasefire and noted that the Council of Europe has been in contact with both parties to provide support in the post-conflict period and to ensure that human rights are protected," the statement from the PACE reads.
She also referred to the case of public figure Osman Kavala, describing the situation as "entirely wrong" since Turkish authorities have not yet released him despite the decision made by the European Court of Human Rights.
