Moscow Court's Decision to Initiate Criminal Case Against Mikhail Khachaturyan is Effective
The Moscow City Court has validated the decision of the Basmanny Court, allowing the investigative body to initiate a criminal case against Mikhail Khachaturyan related to allegations of sexual offenses and torture against his daughters, who are accused of his murder.
According to TASS, one of the lawyers for the girls, Alexei Lipitser, clarified that the decision has come into effect. “The Moscow City Court has confirmed the illegality of the refusal to initiate a case against Mikhail Khachaturyan; the decision is now effective,” stated the defense attorney.
On December 4, 2020, the Basmanny Court declared the investigator's actions illegal regarding the refusal to bring a criminal case against Khachaturyan. The preliminary investigation materials suggest that since 2014, and during the cohabitation amid their mother's absence, including on the day of his death, Khachaturyan exhibited harsh behavior towards his daughters. The lawyer indicated that if a criminal case is initiated against him, the daughters will then become victims.
It is worth noting that the three sisters have been accused of murdering their father, who, according to them, had subjected them to prolonged physical abuse and sexual offenses. Mikhail Khachaturyan was found dead on July 27, 2018.
