Lilit Makunts can be a great ambassador by utilizing her parliamentary diplomacy experience. This was stated today, January 25, during a conversation with journalists by Arpi Davoyan, a member of the National Assembly's 'My Step' faction.

“Ms. Makunts has commented on the details of her possible appointment, and when that appointment occurs, there will be more detailed discussions about it. There has been no such discussion within the faction. We saw where such discussions originated. I cannot say what kind of ambassador Ms. Makunts could be because time will tell. I believe she is a good candidate and can be a great ambassador. Lilit Makunts herself has stated that she has experience in parliamentary diplomacy. Any new appointment represents different developments and perspectives since every official has their own ideas,” Davoyan noted.

Addressing the viewpoint that Azerbaijan's ambassador in America has been serving for ten years while Armenia frequently changes its ambassadors, creating a potentially unserious impression, Davoyan responded that it is incorrect to assume that continually appointing new ambassadors is a mistake.

“I don't know who is making such statements. I don't want to comment. In my opinion, an ambassador who serves for a long time carries weight. Why do we consider repeatedly appointing new ambassadors a mistake? The people you mentioned believe that an ambassador should serve for a long time. Perhaps there are issues that can be resolved with this decision,” Davoyan concluded.
