Discussion on the Return of Armenian Prisoners of War Not Included in PACE Agenda
Today in Strasbourg, the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) commenced, taking place in a hybrid format from January 25 to 28, allowing members to participate remotely or attend in person in Strasbourg.
As previously reported, in addition to the main agenda, seven proposals were presented for urgent and current issues discussions, one of which included "The Groundless Delay in the Return of Armenian Prisoners of War and Other Detainees by the Authorities of Azerbaijan as a Violation of European International Human Rights Standards." However, the PACE Bureau did not approve the holding of this discussion.
The PACE Bureau suggested discussions on two ongoing issues concerning the detention of Navalny and the topic of “Freedom of Speech (Article 10 of the ECHR) Under Threat from Big Tech Companies.”
