Citizens Demanding Nikol Pashinyan's Resignation Hold Protest Car Rally Today, Several Drivers Ticketed
Citizens demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are holding a protest car rally in Yerevan today. Stickers reading "Nikol Traitor" and "Nikol, Leave" are affixed to the car windows, and the Armenian tricolor flag is displayed from the vehicles.
After driving through several streets, the participants attempted to enter the Republic Square via Amiryan Street. However, the police blocked their access to the square with their vehicles.
The rally participants sought clarification from the police on why they were being prevented from entering the square and obstructing the rally. "Let's note that the police are restricting our right to free movement without any basis," said one of the participants.
In response, the Deputy Chief of Police of Yerevan stated that there was a basis for the restriction, citing the disruption of others' rights. After negotiations, the police opened the road, allowing the rally participants to drive around Republic Square.
Several drivers were ticketed for not using turn signals.
