Gegharkunik Governor Discusses Educational System Issues with School Directors

Today, I held a consultation with the directors of public schools in the region, during which we discussed the priority issues facing the educational system. This was announced on the Facebook page of Gegharkunik Governor Gnel Sanosyan.

“At the beginning of the meeting, we honored the memory of the Armenian soldiers who fell in the recent Artsakh war with a moment of silence. I then congratulated the directors and the staff of the educational system on the occasion of the New Year and Christmas holidays. Before discussing the agenda issues, I addressed the need to improve existing problems within the educational system.

In my view, one of the main reasons for our failure in the Artsakh war is that we have many open and deficient areas in our educational system, and we all must collectively attempt to rectify the situation as swiftly as possible by adopting a new approach that aligns with the educational demands of the modern world.

In a rapidly developing world, to withstand external challenges, we must strengthen ourselves, which is unimaginable without forming a competitive educational system. The fulfillment of this crucial requirement depends on each of us.

I expressed my gratitude first and foremost to the directors and teachers of our schools who have personally participated in military operations. I also thanked all directors, educators, parents, and students who have provided various forms of support to Artsakh and to the families who relocated to our region from Artsakh.

I requested that we pay special attention to the children of families relocated from Artsakh, do everything possible for their full engagement in the educational process, provide psychological support, and help them adapt to the new environment. I also asked to personally visit the families of our soldiers who were killed, wounded, or went missing, to communicate with them, comfort them, and remind us of what kind of support can be offered from our side.

Simultaneously, I suggested creating honor corners in schools in memory of our fallen soldiers and organizing events dedicated to the Army Day of Armenia. I also spoke about the importance of adhering to pandemic-related rules in schools. Ensuring sufficient room temperature in classrooms is very important as well. True, we still lack adequate conditions for this in some schools; however, we must make necessary efforts to avoid acute respiratory illnesses and their spread.

We also discussed the legal procedures for leasing school property, achieving adequate results in regional and national rounds of subject Olympiads, effectively utilizing saved budgets, improving paperwork and office management, issuing timely announcements for teacher competitions, and other related issues.

I listened to the questions and suggestions raised by the school directors, discussing them on the spot and providing appropriate answers. On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the Armenian army and in honor of their participation in the combat operations of the 2020 Artsakh war, I awarded certificates of gratitude to the directors and teachers of the schools,” Sanosyan wrote.
