Military Records Indicate 'Driver' Status to Prevent Benefits for Soldiers

Since the April war of 2016, efforts have been made to ensure that discharged soldiers' military records do not reflect their participation in combat. We have received numerous reports that in the military records of discharged soldiers, 'driver' is universally noted next to their status.

The issue is that drivers are not considered participants in combat operations and do not benefit from the privileges allocated to soldiers. This is particularly aimed at preventing soldiers, who may become students in the future, from benefiting from the 100 percent tuition reimbursement that the government decided on in December.

It is worth noting that after the April war, this topic also raised significant concern when military records did not document soldiers' participation in combat operations. Corrections were only made after media uproar on the matter.

Reports the 'Hraparak' newspaper.
