Erdogan Dreams of Greater Turan: Tevan Poghosyan Discusses Upcoming Military Exercises in Kars
Turkey and Azerbaijan have a hostile stance towards Armenia, and have taken actions that reflect their attitude, including sniper fire, diversions, and military operations aimed at attempting to eliminate Armenians. This opinion was expressed by Tevan Poghosyan, President of the International Human Development Center, during a press conference held on January 22.
"Turkey and Azerbaijan have one goal: to eliminate Armenia and the Armenian nation. Since 1915, their objective has not changed at all. Whenever they have had the opportunity, they have fired upon us, carried out diversions, initiated military operations, and tried to annihilate us. This behavior continues," said Poghosyan.
Poghosyan recalled that several months ago, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that he dreams of creating Greater Turan. Now, they will attempt to achieve their goals through various means. "In that sense, they are continuing to work in a much more organized manner," he noted.
The President of the International Human Development Center emphasized that last year, Turkey and Azerbaijan conducted at least 5-7 military exercises and then initiated military operations. The upcoming exercises in Kars are a logical continuation of this activity. "I regret that we do not understand that these should become lessons and opportunities for us to study what this exercise is aimed at and what they will do. Now we and our strategic ally should understand that we need to conduct joint activities and be proactive in establishing our security. I hope there will be this awareness, and sooner or later we will also start initiating monthly joint exercises to restore our defense and military capabilities," Poghosyan emphasized.
Poghosyan added that any exercise, even if it does not have an aggressive agenda, at least prepares for military operations. It should be noted that from February 1 to 12, Turkey and Azerbaijan will hold joint exercises in Kars city, adjacent to Armenia. The exercises will also involve tank and artillery units, helicopters, and special forces units.
