Another Refutation of Fake News with Numbers Regarding the Alleged Campaign Against Armenian Studies: Araik Harutyunyan
Another refutation of fake news with numbers regarding an alleged campaign against Armenian studies, which is actually quite the opposite. This was stated by Araik Harutyunyan, the chief adviser to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, on his Facebook page.
“Do you remember when they said that not enough attention is being paid to Armenian studies? The numbers prove the exact opposite: in three years, funding from the budget of the Republic of Armenia for financing Armenian studies centers in foreign universities has increased by almost eight times. The number of countries has grown from four to ten this year, and the number of centers has tripled, from four to twelve,” he wrote.
Harutyunyan quoted: “In the 2020–21 academic year, the above program was implemented in eight institutions across six countries, instead of the previous four. These include Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic), the University of Bucharest (Romania), Ca' Foscari University of Venice, La Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), the University of Salzburg (Austria), the Kennedy University in Argentina, the Lepsius House Museum in Potsdam, and the ‘Mesrop’ Armenian Studies Research Center at Martin Luther University Halle (Germany).”
“For the implementation of the program, funding from the state budget of Armenia is primarily carried out based on memorandums or agreements signed between the respective university and the Armenian embassies,” he noted.
