Video: Person Arrested for Stealing Gold Jewelry from Arzni Village Houses
The police of Armenia have apprehended a 24-year-old resident suspected of stealing gold jewelry from houses in the village of Arzni. This information was reported by the Armenian Police.
"On December 9, around 1 AM, the Kotayk police received a report that a theft had occurred from a house in the village of Arzni. Upon arriving at the scene, police officers discovered that the front door of the house had been forced open, and gold jewelry had been stolen from the bedroom closet. A search operation was initiated.
Civilian investigators conducted operational inquiries in the village to locate eyewitnesses, resulting in information at the Byureghavan police station indicating that the residential burglary might have been committed by a 24-year-old local resident of Arzni.
On January 16, the suspect was brought to the Kotayk police station through joint efforts. He confessed to committing the burglary and stated that he had pawned the stolen items at one of the pawn shops in Abovyan.
Further investigations revealed that the detained young man had stolen approximately 600,000 AMD worth of gold jewelry from another house in Arzni in December. Days later, he attempted to enter the same house again but left without stealing anything due to certain circumstances.
The victim has filed a report. Efforts are underway to recover the stolen items. The 24-year-old has been placed under arrest. The preliminary investigation into the criminal case is ongoing," the statement said.
The alleged suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the established procedures of the Armenian Criminal Procedure Code by a legally binding court verdict.
