Pashinyan Uncertain if National Assembly Will Not Elect New Prime Minister After His Resignation
«We wrote that Nikol Pashinyan is uncertain whether the National Assembly will not elect a new prime minister after his resignation. Therefore, he has proposed to the opposition in the National Assembly to form a coalition and sign a memorandum pledging not to nominate a candidate and to hold elections within six months. However, the opposition members have not agreed. Yesterday, Tigran Avinyan confirmed this news in the National Assembly. In response to a question about the timing of extraordinary elections, he said that it is not solely up to the government; if the opposition wants, they can sign a memorandum.
MP from the LHK party, Armen Yeghiazaryan, stated that this indicates a lack of confidence in their own team; otherwise, they would pursue extraordinary elections as a team. They are in favor of going to elections without any preconditions or memorandums.
