Pashinyan Informs Putin of His Desire to Organize Early Elections
Many believe that the change of power in Armenia today solely depends on Russia. However, there are differing opinions within the Russian authorities on this matter. While security officials think that Nikol Pashinyan should step down immediately, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov currently opposes this.
Meanwhile, pro-government circles in Armenia are whispering that during the last meeting, Pashinyan informed Putin of his desire to organize early elections, to which the latter replied, 'Go ahead.' Now, the opposition in Armenia is expressing dissatisfaction with Pashinyan's 'prolonged life' due to the Russian official circles, particularly the Russian ambassador in Armenia, who has close ties with several political parties in Armenia and even sponsors some of them, thereby encouraging the holding of early elections, which would be organized by the current government.
The opposition is trying to achieve the recall of Ambassador Kopirkin and convince high-ranking Russian officials that Pashinyan's removal is in everyone's interest, including Russia's. Organizing elections on his part would be a guarantee of his reelection.
