New Cases of Importing Azerbaijani Tomatoes Containing Pests Discovered in Russia
“Rosselkhoznadzor” has revealed new cases of pest-infested tomato supplies from Azerbaijan. REGNUM agency reports this, citing the press service of the agency.
It is specified that during the inspection of Azerbaijani tomatoes imported through the “Viaduk” southern customs terminal in Dagestan, six new cases of the quarantine pest, specifically the tomato borer, were identified, which is a quarantine object for EAEU member states.
According to “Rosselkhoznadzor,” this concerns products from five different Azerbaijani producers. Notifications regarding the violations have been sent to the relevant authorities in Azerbaijan. The Russian side has called for an immediate investigation into each of the cases and for measures to be taken to prevent such violations.
In the near future, “Rosselkhoznadzor” intends to conduct negotiations with the Azerbaijani side on this matter.
It is noteworthy that in early December last year, “Rosselkhoznadzor” imposed a ban on the import of tomatoes and apples from Azerbaijan. Subsequently, this ban was gradually lifted, and as of today, the import of tomatoes is allowed from 33 Azerbaijani enterprises.
