Yes, I have received an offer: Shirak will have a new governor, a surgeon by profession

The former Deputy Minister of Health, Hovhannes Harutyunyan, is set to be appointed as the governor of Shirak province soon. Governor Tigran Petrosyan submitted his resignation at the end of last week. It is likely that his release decision will be announced at tomorrow's government meeting.

It is not ruled out that during the same meeting, it will be announced that Hovhannes Harutyunyan is appointed as the governor. In a conversation with Hraparak, he stated: "Yes, I have received an offer." When asked what his response was, the former deputy minister replied, "My decision is positive, the rest is up to the government's decision. The decision will be made and published."

The 33-year-old native of Gyumri is a surgeon by profession. He graduated from the Gymnasium No. 1 in Gyumri in 2004 and, as a high-achieving graduate, was admitted to the I. M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. After returning to Armenia in 2006, he continued his education at Yerevan State Medical University named after M. Heratsi.

In 2010, he entered the Academy of Postgraduate Education in Russia and obtained higher professional education as a physician-surgeon. Hovhannes Harutyunyan practiced as a surgeon for several years at the Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow, and then at other private clinics.

After undergoing professional retraining at the Institute of Advanced Studies for Physicians in Moscow in the specialization of "Health Organization and Public Health," he returned to Armenia in 2016 and headed the "Berlin Polyclinic" in Shirak Province.

In 2017, he participated in the "Business Management Strategy" course at the American University of Armenia and obtained the relevant qualification. In 2018, he was appointed as the Deputy Director of the Ministry of Health's "St. Grigor Lusavorich" Medical Center, responsible for outpatient services.

From February 2019, he held the advisory position of the Minister of Health, and later served as the deputy minister. He was dismissed from that position on October 15, 2019.
